Reported mechanism

Binds the oxytocin receptor (OXTR), a Gq-coupled GPCR. Peripheral actions include uterine contraction and milk ejection. Central/CNS actions are extensively studied in social behavior, pair bonding, and stress response. Structurally similar to vasopressin (differs in two residues).

Regulatory status
